Permalink Reply by Charles Cole on January 19, 2012 at 12:26pm Will post more comments later, but at first glance not too bad. I like that our home games are more balanced throughout the season. I don't like that we have three away games followed by three home games in the first half, but that is made up for with a nice home-away-home-away setup over the last couple of months. And even with those three straight away games early on, no huge gaps between home games.
We'll talk road trips once we've had a chance to look at this further!

Permalink Reply by Jared Selph on January 19, 2012 at 6:55pm Now I know which days to take off from work! (and which weeknights to be "sick")
Happy to see the last third of the season will alternate between home and away games. Too many home or away games in a row just won't work. Thankfully, our longest home stand ends with a game against Fort Lauderdale, so maybe attendance won't drop off too much. I wish the rest of the schedule had been set up home-away-home-away, but I understand some of the obstacles the NASL had to work around. Also, I'm not a fan of playing teams back to back. We play San Antonio and Carolina consecutively and several other teams just a fortnight apart. Hopefully, as more teams have control over their stadiums situations (especially us!), we'll see a more balanced schedule.
I eagerly look forward to hearing Charlie's plans as far as Mob road trips, but personally I wish the schedule makers had spaced our games in Atlanta a little further apart. The August trip there was a blast and I look forward to going back, but with two games there within a month, two road trips may not be possible. At least they aren't two weeks apart like they were last season. There's also a gap of three months between our trips to Fort Lauderdale, so I might have to make a trip to Carolina this year. It's only ten hours by car...
Also, I found it interesting that the schedule for Edmonton doesn't list a stadium, just "Edmonton, Alberta." Hopefully, that means they will have a different stadium, so we don't have to watch games played on that turf field with gridiron lines all over it and bright yellow endzones, so you can't see where the soccer lines are.
EDIT: I'm sure most of the above reads like I'm being way too negative, so to end on a positive note, thank you and good job NASL for getting the schedule out so early. :-)

Permalink Reply by Charles Cole on January 19, 2012 at 8:35pm Regarding road trips, I think we should make it a point to get a group to Carolina at least once. I'd love to make both Atlanta away games and I think that with the games a little farther apart this time that we might be able to swing it. We'll definitely go once, though.
If we can make Atlanta and Carolina at least once, thats a minimum of four road trips this season. so something close to 30% of the away schedule? Plus we may get a chance to travel for at least one Open Cup game, depending on who we get paired up with in the 2nd round and hopefully the third round which would be a trip to an MLS city unless our ownership decides to try and host a 3rd round game.
All in all plenty of opportunities for road trips, just gotta break the schedule down and see whats up.
Regarding Edmonton, what I've seen is that they are very likely switching stadiums but the move is only like 99% certain. Only.
So hopefully they get a better situation up there, for sure.
Permalink Reply by Whitestar Warriors on January 19, 2012 at 10:14pm Just wondering if Rowdies want more attendance why can't you buy tickets online and print them?

Permalink Reply by Charles Cole on January 20, 2012 at 12:22am really? that is weird for sure. maybe its a mistake?
Permalink Reply by Francis Novoa on January 20, 2012 at 11:55am That scheduling looks like the work of the Swindell Road Boys Jared. Lol.
But dang, a 1pm game. Bummer for their "fans". Better them than us.

Just read on BigSoccer and checked the NASL website to confirm, Fort Lauderdale plays a home game on Wednesday, April 25 at...1:00 pm. 1 pm on a Wednesday. Not sure whether to laugh at them or feel sorry for them. The attendance is going to be so huge, it will look like a Miami FC game broke out. Have to wonder the reason for that scheduling.
Permalink Reply by Francis Novoa on January 20, 2012 at 11:57am I am down in any type of road trip that is planned (safety in numbers ya know, in terms of presence). I think that any away game that is close(er) to us we should be able to hit if possible. If all of us can't go, at least someone will show up and show our presence. 1 is better than none in my book.
