The good ol'days....  (I hate when people say that)

I know a lot of people in the Mob are kinda haters or don't know much about the Mutiny, but 96 on the field  was wicked! I'll never forget that lovely March night when I got to see Pibe thread the needle live against Lalas and the Revs, plus I sat next to the most hilariously awesome Venenzuelans... the game that solidified my addiction, maybe even changed my life?

Why are there haters? If there's anybody to hate, you should be hating the Rednecks on sports radio. Not our
own soccer team.
I hope none of us are "haters" towards the Mutiny! I know that a few of us were not around back then (myself included) but we would have supported the team if we were! Frankie is a beast. I got to see him play in preseason this year down in Bradenton when the Crew played D.C. United. I was very cool to be able to watch him -- and Jamie Moreno -- that close.
Good attitude Paul.

ya I haven't noticed much hatin' on the Mutiny. Mostly people just had never seen them play.

And yes , Frankie was fast. Too bad he hadn't learned to cross yet in those days. hahahaha!
I overheard someone in a Mob scene say once... that the fans for the Mutiny weren't good. I think the avg of 9,000 to 11,000 is pretty fantastic, but hey... who am I?

Clearly no one with any sway, because they would've never left... :/ I will admit though, they left soon after I did... Same happened with the Quakes, bad juju eh?... I ought not leave Tampa, again....

Hejduk was all speed back then, its amazing how effective that can be?

I miss the kits of 96. Those were something.

ya it is a really, really shitty misconception regarding Mutiny support back in the day, at least among newer/younger fans. In reality, what the Mutiny were able to average year in and year out despite no owner and possibly the worst stadium deal in the league ever, was very solid and could have been the foundation for something great. It's a shame, but at this point it's water under the bridge.

Honestly though, there is a certain magic surrounding the Rowdies name. This city's soccer heritage really begins and ends with the Rowdies and it'd be great to once again see the green and yellow taking the field at the highest level.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be a Mutiny supporter for life if the team had survived. But I won't apologize for stating that it just feels right that the Rowdies are making a comeback.

As for the article, I thought it was interesting and made some good points about the guys that helped get MLS off the ground and running. They deserve statues, much less some simple recognition for their dedication.
100% AGREE! Of course it is right... they came back into existance when I moved back to Tampa :)

IT IS MEANT TO BE!!! =) GO ROWDIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
