Flares/Banner
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, and the mob itself I supposed, though ive been sitting right behind you guys for most of the home games. And depending on how well I prelube before the game, joining in the loudness. I was at the game on the 4th and was very pleasantly surprised by the turnout and the FLARES!!! I was wondering where to get these flares, as if we can get away with them then I would def bring some next time. Also, I am planning on making a banner, a huge one... Possibly something along the lines of like 15'x40' or something like that. Something that when unfurled would cover about 4-5 rows of bleachers and as wide as a whole section if not more and need multiple folks to hold. I am throwing around ideas at the moment of what to actually put on it. I am hoping to get it done soon, though I doubt I can pull it off before the Bolton game. I am open to suggestions for what to put on it, especially if anyone wants to pitch in on the cost.
What I've considered so far:
-Logo + FC TAMPA BAY
-Logo + Pride of the Bay
I'm not against putting the mob logo on the banner but I didnt want to cut in on anyone's action. So please give me your thoughts and suggestion. I want to get this thing made as soon as possible!!

Great to see that you've enjoyed the Mob so far and want to help out. Turnout on Monday really was great. What you saw set off were actually smoke bombs, not flares. Flares look something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxJiqpVkmtQ&feature=related. Unfortunately, we can't have flares. People consider them dangerous, and it's probably against city code to have them in the stadium like that. And as for the smoke bombs, we've already had the team yell at us for the ones on Monday, so we probably need to hold off on those for now.
A banner of that size would be awesome though. Were you thinking something that could be reused for every game, or just a one time thing like Monday? If you were thinking of a reusable one, don't use the material we used Monday. People have talked about making a massive banner like this before but have yet to actually make one. The "a kick in the grass" idea for the old days of the Rowdies had been thrown around for a banner like this. I'll be fine with anything for the banner, as long as it's massive in size.

yes definitely reusable. figured something eye-catching tha can be unveiled at start of 2nd half or if we attain a lead. i want to find something very light so it can be folded into a relatively acceptable size. i dont want to carry a huge vinyl roll that weighs a ton. ill be looking around and hopefully we can pull it off before the home league game.
thats a real shame about the smoke bombs, as having those gets us frighteningly close to putting on an actual football match as far as atmosphere! what was the trouble anyway? did they threaten to cancel the sanction? a ban for the culprit? or what??

Great to have you! And awesome that you already have some tifo ideas. Have Garrett add you to our tifo team and we'll go from there. Remember that from now on any tifo ideas you have should be expressed through private message or email rather than here on the public forum.
I really like the idea of having something more permanent that we can regularly unfurl after goals or after halftime or other events in game. We have a big flag that is hit or miss and is a bit small for us, especially when we have a group like we had on Monday.

yes 4x that big is what i was planning, but id really like to get in one piece, so that will be tough.
about discussing this in private messages. i can appreciate the desire to keep the plans under wraps, but who do you want to keep this information from?? i mean only mob members are interested in this forum i would imagine. its not like we get traffic here like it was a Barca website. What is the point of keeping if from other members? I doubt too many of the general public comes to this site.
Finally, what was the trouble from the team with the smoke bombs again?? what did they say?

ha! and not quite that big :D Although one day, maybe.
Keeping tifo ideas off the public boards both adds to the surprise on game day and allows us to plan certain kinds of tifo without getting any flack. not all tifo is signs like we did on the 4th and we had one ready for the first trip to Ft. Lauderdale, the game that got rained out, that would likely have not been able to happen if certain people found out about it ahead of time.
