I'm sure a lot of you have heard about this by now, but I've been really busy and haven't had a chance to make it on this site as often as I used to.
There is supposed a be a press conference tomorrow about a partnership between VisionPro Sports and the Brandon Flames unveiling plans for a PDL team in 2012 and a USL Pro team that would possibly play at USF's new stadium in 2013.

USL has been in Tampa Bay youth soccer for a LONG time. Clearwater and Hillsborough County United were under the Super-Y League for some time now.
The big mergers have been happening for awhile. Like this article said, Fusion is already a merged club with the former Black Watch club. In fact, Clearwater merged with Countryside a while back. On top of that, you have the Hillsborough County United merging with the Tampa Knights (who were a Real Salt Lake academy for a little while) which created Tampa Bay United (which I suspect is the main catalyst for the Clearwater merger).
This is big news, but a good thing. It allows for the assembly of "All-Star Teams" between the teams at the different locations. Having "guest players" between different clubs is nightmare process because of the paperwork involved (not to mention having the cooperation of the respective coaches and clubs involved). So combining the clubs makes this process infinitely easier.
