Tampa Tribune reporter and new Ralph's Mob member Nicholas Murray checked into the status of games scheduled to air on Bright House Sports Network. According to a post on his Twitter page, Murray reports the station plans to air the Sunday, July 4th game against Miami FC and the Wednesday, Aug. 25th game against the Carolina Railhawks.

He said he will hopefully get more updates on plans to cover other games.

I know a few people have voiced concerns that live coverage of home games could actually hurt the team when it comes to attendance. I believe that even if that is true, it would be offset by the extra marketing done for the team by Brighthouse. Also, having the games televised adds an extra sense of legitimacy to a sports franchise. I was hopeful that BHSN would air all weekend home games, but it looks like the agreement is a lot more limited than that now.

At least we have the 1010 Sports radio deal!

What do you guys think?

I don't think it can hurt the Rowdies either. I know the home opener has been rebroadcast a few times and that only helps to build interest in the team.

Plus, if the Mob and other supporters can create an atmosphere that the causal sports fan is not seeing at a Bucs or Ray's game then they are going to wonder what it's like to see a game live.

Create an atmosphere like no other and they will come to be part of the excitement!

Paul I think your dead on, having the game televised does add an extra sense legitimacy to a sports team and the league in which it plays. But i do think they should limit them. The Rays t.v. ratings are way, way up; and we know what their attendance typically is.

and baseball doesn't have supporter groups like in soccer, it's almost equal to college football.

we dont go to rays games because we cant go on weekdays because of the drive there and what time we get up in the AM, i like sleep. and we'd go on weekends but now we have the rowdies and want to support them

Yeah, that is hurting the Rays. But there are just so many games in baseball it's tough to get all of the fans to go consistently. With the Rowdies, this weekend will be interesting because you basically have back-to-back games. Overall though, there is usually a week or so between most games.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Hopefully BHSN starts showing more games (it was great seeing us on TV after the game!). The away game issues are expected. Even in MLS markets, if there is an away game, it's not always covered by the local TV stations.

someone who had no idea we had a team could see the game and say look we have a soccer team, let's go to a game! i wish they had away games but its great marketing for the team. did the opener being on tv hurt us, nope.
